Desktop PhantomSDR+ ยท version 4.0.0

Your receivers, in their own windows

Desktop PhantomSDR+ is a desktop application for listening to PhantomSDR-Plus receivers without a browser tab. Keep a list of the stations you actually listen to, open each in its own window, and let your transceiver and the receiver follow each other. It runs on Linux (PC or Raspberry Pi) and Windows.

It is a client. It has no SDR or receiver software inside; it connects over the network to a PhantomSDR-Plus server that is already running, yours or someone else's. Each window loads the page from that station's own server, so you always see the interface the station runs, and the app doesn't need an update when a station is updated.
Station list

The stations you listen to, in your order

๐Ÿ“‹Your own list

Paste a receiver's address, give it a name if you like, and it is saved. Drag rows or use the โ–ฒโ–ผ arrows to put them in your order; the first nine get Ctrl+1โ€ฆCtrl+9.

๐ŸชŸA window per station

No address bar, tabs or bookmarks bar over the waterfall. Each window remembers its own size and position, so two receivers side by side come back where you left them.

๐Ÿ”ŠAudio in the background

Browsers throttle a background tab, and you hear the audio break up. The app turns that throttling off, so a receiver keeps playing behind your other windows.

๐Ÿ–ฑ๏ธRight-click everywhere

Menus built from what you clicked. Copy a link or an image, reload or zoom the page, or copy the waterfall to the clipboard as a picture of the band.

โŒจ๏ธKeyboard shortcuts

Station list, zoom, reload, full screen and the station keys, working whatever keyboard layout you type in.

๐Ÿ“One settings file

Stations, order, window positions, trusted certificates and rig settings are in one plain JSON file. Copy it to another machine and your list goes with it.

New in 4.0 ยท Rig control (CAT)

Your transceiver and the receiver, in step

The Rig menu connects a transceiver to a receiver window and keeps frequency, mode and filter width in step, in either direction or both. Turn the rig's dial and the waterfall follows; click a signal on the waterfall and the rig tunes to it.

๐Ÿ”ŒFour ways to reach the rig

  • Built-in drivers, nothing else to install: Icom CI-V, Yaesu (new CAT and FT-817/857/897), Kenwood, Elecraft, FlexRadio SmartSDR CAT, QRP Labs, (tr)uSDX, Lab599.
  • Hamlib: more than 300 rigs from a searchable list. The app starts and stops rigctld for you.
  • rigctld on the network, already running here or on another computer.
  • flrig, when the rig is already shared with fldigi, WSJT-X or a logger.

๐Ÿ“ปMore than PhantomSDR-Plus

It works the same way on KiwiSDR (and Web-888), PA3FWM WebSDR (including band changes on a multi-band site) and UberSDR receivers.

  • Mute while transmitting, so the receiver doesn't play your own signal back at you.
  • Frequency offset for transverters and IF-offset setups.
  • By default the window you last clicked follows the rig, so you switch receivers just by clicking into the other one.

Plain-HTTP stations

A station on http:// gets a secure context in the app, so its page can use the smooth AudioWorklet audio path. In an ordinary browser tab it can't, and the audio breaks up.

Self-signed certificates

Asked once per station, showing the issuer and fingerprint. If the fingerprint later changes, it asks again.

Links stay sensible

A station window stays on its station. Links to other sites open in your normal browser, where your logins are.

Eight builds, free under the GPL v3

Take the file for your system from the download folder. Each release includes a SHA256SUMS file so you can check the download.

Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" because the installer is not code-signed. Click More info, then Run anyway. It installs per user, without administrator rights.
Raspberry Pi: uname -m tells you which file to take. aarch64 โ†’ arm64, armv7l โ†’ armhf. A Pi 1 or Pi Zero (ARMv6) can't run it, so use the station's web page in a browser there. There's no macOS build yet.

Prefer the browser?

Every receiver also works in an ordinary browser tab, and the page's own TCI-CAT button and the CATsync Tool give you rig control there too.
